Founded in 1933 and based at Paris Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport, Air France is a French airline that makes every effort to satisfy its customers, offering them all the necessary comfort and safety on board its aircraft. For this, Air France had to establish its own baggage policy, like all airlines, to also preserve the right of its passengers to carry their baggage.
Cabin baggage:
In the cabin, it is authorized to take one or two bags in addition to an accessory. The number and total weight of baggage allowances depends on the travel cabin.
Cabin baggage must be placed in the luggage compartment located above the passenger seat. As for the personal accessory, it must be slid under the front seat, except for the seats at the level of the emergency exits, where the accessory must be stowed in the luggage compartment.
Cabin baggage dimensions:
Checks are carried out before boarding cabin baggage, those that do not have the right dimensions must be checked in and transported in the hold. Charges may then apply for the latter, as cabin baggage can measure up to 55 x 35 x 25 cm maximum, including pockets, wheels and handles.
Air France has put devices for its travelers who have a doubt about the size of their luggage. Templates to check the dimensions in accordance with the regulations have been installed at the airport, in the baggage drop-off areas and in the boarding halls.
Cabin baggage weight:
All baggage and accessories in the cabin can weigh up to 12 or 18 kg maximum, depending on the travel cabin, according to what is indicated on the passenger’s flight ticket.
In the event of a full scheduled flight or depending on the type of aircraft, it may happen that the baggage, although it complies with the standards, is not accepted in the cabin. They are then registered and put in the hold, at no additional cost.
Accessories accepted in the cabin:
An accessory may be authorized in addition to cabin baggage, the dimensions of which do not exceed 40 x 30 x 15 cm. For example: a handbag, a laptop, a camera…
Additional items authorized in the cabin:
Several items in the list below are authorized in the cabin, they are not considered as baggage or as an accessory:
- Clothing worn as: jacket, coat or any other clothing.
- An umbrella.
- Duty-free items purchased on board or at the airport.
- Accessories for children such as stroller, car seat, diaper bag.
- A foldable wheelchair, crutches, etc.
The pushchair and the foldable wheelchair can be put in the hold in case of lack of space in the cabins. A “Yoyo” stroller is considered standard carry-on baggage, not an accessory.
Liquid Products authorized in the cabin:
Apart from certain liquids which are accepted without restriction in the cabin such as: baby food, medicines, etc. Liquid products transported in cabin baggage must comply with the following conditions:
- The container of the transported liquid must be placed in a closed transparent plastic bag.
- The container of the transported liquid which is in the bag, must not exceed 100 ml.
- The volume of the bag should not exceed 1 litre.
- The maximum dimensions of the bag must be 20 x 20 cm.

Checked baggage dimensions:

Baggage with prohibited packaging:
All baggage that is visibly damaged, poorly packaged or non-compliant is refused as is.
Packaging made with rudimentary means (stretch film for household use in particular) is not accepted.
Flexible plastic bags are strictly prohibited on departure from Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport, as such packaging damages airport facilities and disrupts the transport of baggage.
